The exam
The SC-300 exam lasts 100 minutes and usually contains 40 to 60 questions: multiple choice, drag and drop, hot area and case studies. You sit it through Pearson VUE at a test centre or online with a remote proctor, and need a score of 700 to pass. It is available in English, French and several other languages. The certification is valid for one year and you can renew it for free with an online assessment on Microsoft Learn during the six months before it expires.
Preparation tips

Be clear on the difference between app registrations, enterprise apps and managed identities
Frequently asked questions (FAQ)
Is SC-300 the old Azure AD certification?
SC-300 covers Microsoft Entra ID, the new name for Azure AD, plus secure access and identity governance. If you learned Azure AD before, most concepts carry over, but the portal, feature names and some capabilities have changed.
Do I need Active Directory admin experience?
It is not mandatory, but knowing on-premises AD helps a lot with the hybrid identity part of the exam and with real migrations.
Does SC-300 count toward the SC-100 architect certification?
Yes. It is one of the Associate certifications Microsoft accepts as a prerequisite for Cybersecurity Architect Expert, alongside SC-200 and SC-500.
How long is it valid?
One year, with free online renewal through a short assessment on Microsoft Learn that you can retake until you pass.
Can you run it for our team only?
Yes. We run it at your premises or as a private live online class, in French or English, and can focus the workshops on your own identity scenarios.
