Microsoft AZ-305 Certification Preparation: Azure Solutions Architect

This course teaches you to design Azure infrastructure that is resilient, secure and cost-aware. Identity, governance, data storage, business continuity, compute, networking and migrations are covered through case studies close to the AZ-305 exam style. The focus is on weighing business requirements, technical constraints and budget against each other. Each day mixes short lectures, small-group design workshops and exam-style questions.

The exam

The AZ-305 exam usually contains 40 to 60 questions, including design case studies, and requires a score of 700. You sit it through Pearson VUE at a test centre or online with a remote proctor, in English, French or several other languages. To earn the Azure Solutions Architect Expert title you must also hold the Azure Administrator Associate certification (AZ-104). The certification is valid for one year and renews for free through an online assessment on Microsoft Learn. Microsoft Learn can be opened during the exam, but the timer keeps running, so it is best not to rely on it.

Preparation tips

Frequently asked questions (FAQ)

Do I need AZ-104 to get certified with AZ-305?

Yes. You can sit AZ-305 at any time, but the Expert title is only awarded once you also hold the Azure Administrator Associate certification. Many candidates therefore prepare the two certifications back to back.

Is AZ-305 harder than AZ-104?

It is different: less hands-on configuration, more trade-offs. You need broad service knowledge and the ability to justify a choice under constraints such as cost, latency or compliance.

How long does the certification last?

One year, with free online renewal during the six months before it expires. The renewal assessment is short, unproctored and focused on recent changes to Azure.

Does the course cover migration?

Yes. Designing migrations is part of the infrastructure domain, the largest in the exam, and we work through realistic migration scenarios.

Can we run it privately for our team?

Yes, at your premises or as a private live online class, in French or English, with case studies adapted to your context. We can also align the workshops with a migration or landing zone project you already have under way.
