Microsoft DP-600 Certification Preparation: Fabric Analytics Engineer
The Fabric Analytics Engineer Associate certification is aimed at people who prepare data and build semantic models in Microsoft Fabric. Around half of exam DP-600 is about data preparation; the rest covers semantic models, security and the development lifecycle. Over four days you work in a Fabric tenant with SQL, KQL and DAX, plus practice in the exam's format.

The exam
Exam DP-600, “Implementing Analytics Solutions Using Microsoft Fabric”, leads to the Fabric Analytics Engineer Associate certification. It lasts 100 minutes, may include interactive components and requires a score of 700 out of 1,000; Microsoft says its exams usually have 40 to 60 questions. You take it through Pearson VUE at a test centre or online with a remote proctor, in English, French, German, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, Japanese or Simplified Chinese. Microsoft Learn is available during the exam, with no extra time added. The certification is valid for one year and renews online at no cost.
Preparation tips
Put most of your revision into data preparation, close to half of the exam
Write the same query in SQL, KQL and DAX to keep the three languages apart
Try out Direct Lake and its fallback behaviour on a real semantic model
Frequently asked questions (FAQ)
Is DP-600 being retired?
No. Microsoft is updating the English version on 19 October 2026 with minor changes to the “query and analyze data” area. The three domains and their weightings stay the same.
How does DP-600 compare with PL-300?
PL-300 covers Power BI analysis and reporting. DP-600 goes further: data preparation in Fabric, SQL and KQL, security, deployment and enterprise-scale semantic models.
Do I need Python?
No. The exam targets SQL, KQL and DAX. Python can help in notebooks but is not required.
Is the exam available in French?
Yes, alongside English, German, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, Japanese and Simplified Chinese.
Which course formats and languages?
