The exam
The SY0-701 exam has up to 90 questions, a mix of multiple choice and performance-based items, to complete in 90 minutes. The passing score is 750 on a 100–900 scale. You take it through Pearson VUE, either at a test center or online with remote proctoring (OnVUE). It is offered in English, Japanese, Portuguese, Spanish and Thai. The English version retires on 11 June 2027. You can renew the certification through CompTIA's continuing education program, which requires 50 CEUs.

Can I take Security+ in French?
No. SY0-701 is offered in English, Japanese, Portuguese, Spanish and Thai. Our course can be taught in French or English, always using the exam's English terminology.
Should I wait for the next exam version?
No. SY0-701 remains available in English until 11 June 2027, and the credential you earn carries the same value.
What score do I need?
750 on a 100–900 scale. The score is scaled, so it does not translate directly into a percentage of correct answers; aim for comfortable margins on practice tests rather than a borderline result.
Can I take the exam from Morocco?
Yes, at a Pearson VUE test center. CompTIA also offers online proctored testing through OnVUE; before you book, we check the technical requirements and availability for your country with you, since a failed system check on exam day is stressful and avoidable.
