It covers two domains: the fundamental principles and concepts of an AIMS, and the AI management system itself. Once you pass and sign the PECB Code of Ethics, you hold the title "PECB Certificate Holder in ISO/IEC 42001 Foundation", with no experience required. If you do not pass, one free retake is available within 12 months.

Frequently asked questions (FAQ)
Can an organization be certified to ISO 42001?
Yes. ISO/IEC 42001 contains auditable requirements, so an organization can have its AIMS certified by a certification body. The Foundation course certifies you, personally, on your knowledge of the standard.
Do I need technical AI skills?
No. The course is about governance and management, not model development or data science. It suits business, legal, risk, compliance and IT profiles alike, and anyone who has to answer for how AI is used in their organization.
How does it relate to the EU AI Act?
ISO/IEC 42001 is a voluntary standard, separate from the regulation. An AIMS does, however, help structure the governance, documentation and risk management that AI regulations expect.
What comes after Foundation?
ISO/IEC 42001 Lead Implementer if you will be deploying an AIMS, or Lead Auditor if you will be assessing one. For a broader role steering AI across the organization, the Certified AI Manager track is another option.
Can I take the course online or in Casablanca?
Both. We run it as a live online class, in person in Casablanca, or on-site at your organization, taught in French or English depending on the group. For on-site sessions we can adapt examples and case studies to your sector and schedule the exam with you.
