ISO/IEC 42001 Lead Auditor Training – PECB Certification

Over five days you learn how to plan, run and close an audit of an artificial intelligence management system (AIMS) against ISO/IEC 42001. The course draws on ISO 19011 guidance and ISO/IEC 17021-1 requirements, and the PECB certification exam takes place on the final day. Exercises and case studies are built around realistic AI use cases, so you practise gathering evidence on data, models and oversight controls rather than only reading clauses.

The exam

The PECB exam takes place on day five. It mixes multiple-choice and scenario-based questions across seven domains: AIMS fundamentals, audit principles, audit preparation, conducting and closing an audit, and audit programme management. You can sit it online with remote proctoring or on paper. Depending on your experience and audit hours, you then apply for Provisional Auditor, Auditor, Lead Auditor or Senior Lead Auditor; signing the PECB Code of Ethics is required. The first-year maintenance fee is included.
