Palo Alto Networks EDU-210 Firewall Essentials: Configuration and Management Training
This five-day course teaches you to deploy, configure and operate a Palo Alto Networks next-generation firewall running PAN-OS, from first boot to log analysis. Every topic is reinforced in hands-on labs. Together with the Panorama course, it is the vendor's recommended path to the Next-Generation Firewall Engineer certification, which replaced PCNSE on 31 July 2025. The outline follows the flow of a real deployment: lay down the base configuration, segment the network, write the policy, then tighten inspection and put the telemetry to work. By the end of the week, participants can take over day-to-day administration of a production firewall with confidence.
Place the firewall within the Palo Alto Networks portfolio and architecture
Complete initial setup and manage configuration backups and administrator accounts
Connect the firewall to production networks using zones and interfaces
Write security and NAT policy rules and control applications with App-ID
Stop known and unknown threats with security profiles, URL Filtering and WildFire
Enforce user-based access with User-ID and inspect encrypted traffic

The exam
The course has no built-in exam. Together with the Panorama course, it prepares you for the Next-Generation Firewall Engineer certification, which replaced PCNSE and PCNSA (retired on 31 July 2025). The vendor does not publish the question count or exam length; the exam is in English, with 30 extra minutes for candidates in non-English-speaking countries. Operations-focused administrators may also target the Network Security Analyst certification. Before booking, we recommend reviewing the official exam datasheet, which lists every topic and subtopic, and spending time on a lab firewall to consolidate what was covered in class.
Preparation tips
Replay the labs on a test bed or VM-Series trial
Follow up with the Panorama course to cover centralized management
Read the official exam datasheet and review domain by domain
Frequently asked questions (FAQ)
