Check Point CCTE R82 – Troubleshooting Expert Certification Preparation

This two-day expert course takes Check Point R82 troubleshooting further: management server and API services, logs and events, gateways, firewall kernel debugging, access control, NAT, Identity Awareness and site-to-site VPN. All nine modules are backed by hands-on labs. It prepares you for exam 156-587, which leads to the CCTE accreditation, and is the logical step after CCTA. It targets engineers who must solve the hardest incidents themselves rather than waiting on an escalation to vendor support.

Prerequisites

Target audience

The exam

You earn the CCTE accreditation by passing exam 156-587 with Pearson VUE. It is a specialist accreditation: with CCSE and a second accreditation, it earns you the CCSM title. Check Point's certification FAQ still lists this exam against R81.20 while the course is offered on R82, so we confirm the exam version with you when you register. Check Point provides the question count, time limit and pass mark when you book.

Preparation tips

Frequently asked questions (FAQ)

Should I take CCTA before CCTE?

It is not mandatory but recommended: CCTA sets out the method and tools that CCTE then takes deeper into the kernel, NAT and VPNs. If you already troubleshoot Check Point daily, you can go straight to CCTE.

What is the CCTE exam code?

156-587, taken with Pearson VUE. We confirm the current version with you before you register. Check Point's FAQ still associates it with R81.20, which is why we check this for you.

How long is the course?

Two intensive days, about 16 hours, spread across nine hands-on modules. Each module pairs a short presentation with a lab where you reproduce and then fix a fault.

Does this accreditation count toward CCSM?

Yes. CCSM (Check Point Certified Security Master) is not a course: you earn it by adding two specialist accreditations to CCSE, then two more for CCSM Elite. The title is valid for two years.

Which delivery formats do you offer?

Live online, in person in Casablanca or on-site at your organization, in French or English, with a lab environment for each participant. Private sessions can use exercises modeled on your own infrastructure.
