The exam
The ITIL Foundation (Version 5) exam has 40 multiple-choice questions to complete in 60 minutes, closed book, with a 65% pass mark. It is available in nine languages, including English and French, and can be taken online with a remote proctor; rescheduling is free up to 48 hours before the session. The certification is renewed every 3 years with 60 continuing professional development points. ITIL 4 Foundation holders can take the bridge exam instead.

Should I choose ITIL 4 or ITIL (Version 5)?
Both are currently offered. Version 5 is the newest and adds digital product management and AI; ITIL 4 remains available, particularly for people continuing a path they have already started. For a first certification today, Version 5 is usually the more future-proof choice.
I hold ITIL 4 Foundation — do I need to start over?
No. PeopleCert offers the ITIL Foundation Bridge (Version 5), a shorter route for ITIL 4 certified professionals.
Is the exam available in French?
Yes, French is one of the nine languages offered.
How does AI feature in ITIL (Version 5)?
