The exam
You can sit 312-50 at an ECC Exam center, at a Pearson VUE test center or with remote proctoring. Expect 125 multiple-choice questions in four hours, with no reference material. EC-Council rotates several exam forms and sets a cut score for each one, between 60% and 85%. Your voucher is valid for one year from receipt, and an approved application stays valid for three months. The CEH Practical is a separate six-hour exam with 20 challenges on live targets; pass both and you earn CEH Master.
Preparation tips
Replay the labs after class and time yourself; that is what the six months of lab access are for
Keep a one-line note per tool with the key switch and what good output looks like, since many questions ask you to read tool output
Book the exam three to four weeks after the course, while all 20 modules are still fresh
Frequently asked questions (FAQ)
What is the difference between CEH and CEH Master?
You earn CEH by passing the 312-50 knowledge exam (125 questions, 4 hours). CEH Master also requires passing the CEH Practical, a six-hour exam made of 20 hands-on challenges.
Can I take the CEH exam without attending training?
Yes, if you can document at least two years of information security experience and submit an eligibility application to EC-Council with a non-refundable USD 100 fee. Official training removes that step.
What score do I need to pass 312-50?
There is no single pass mark. Each exam form has its own cut score, set between 60% and 85% depending on question difficulty.
Can I take the CEH exam from home?
Yes. Besides ECC Exam and Pearson VUE test centers, EC-Council offers remote proctoring, which you book a few days in advance.
How long do I keep access to the labs and courseware?
Depending on the EC-Council kit, the eCourseware stays available for one year and the hosted labs for six months. We confirm the exact kit when you register.
