The exam

The three-hour exam takes place on day five, online with remote proctoring through the PECB Exams app or on paper through a partner. It has 80 multiple-choice questions, stand-alone or scenario-based, across seven domains; planning and implementation carry 18 questions each. It is open book (standard, course materials and notes allowed) and the pass mark is 70%. Depending on your experience you then hold Provisional Implementer, Implementer, Lead Implementer (five years' experience including two in continuity, 300 project hours) or Senior Lead Implementer. Certification lasts three years, subject to CPD and an annual maintenance fee.

Preparation tips

Frequently asked questions (FAQ)

Can I become a Lead Implementer without experience?

No. Without experience, passing gives you Provisional Implementer. You can apply to upgrade later, once you can document the professional experience and continuity project hours each level requires.

ISO 22301 Lead Implementer or Lead Auditor?

The first builds and runs the BCMS; the second assesses it against the standard. Pick the one that matches your current role. Many continuity professionals end up taking both, because knowing how auditors think makes implementation smoother.

How long is the exam?

Three hours for 80 open-book multiple-choice questions. Non-native speakers can ask PECB for extra time.

Does the certification need renewing?

It is valid for three years; you keep it active by reporting CPD hours and paying the annual fee.

Can I take the course online or in Casablanca?

Both. We run it as a live online class, in person in Casablanca, or on-site at your organization, taught in French or English depending on the group. For on-site sessions we can adapt examples and case studies to your sector and schedule the exam with you.
