• AWS recommends two or more years of designing and implementing solutions on AWS
• Solid command of the services covered at Associate level
• Working use of the AWS Well-Architected Framework
• The Associate certification is not required but strongly advised

The exam

SAP-C02 has 75 multiple-choice or multiple-response questions, 10 of them unscored, with 180 minutes to finish. You need 750 out of 1000, with no per-domain minimum. It is delivered at Pearson VUE centres or online with a remote proctor, in English, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese (Brazil), Simplified Chinese and Spanish (Latin America); there is no French version. AWS lists the fee at USD 300. The certification is valid for three years and renewed by passing the latest exam version. The last day to sit SAP-C02 is 17 November 2026.

Preparation tips

• If you are aiming for SAP-C02, book well before 17 November 2026.
• Build stamina: three hours of long scenarios, read in English.
• Rule out first any answer that breaks an explicit constraint in the question.

Frequently asked questions (FAQ)

Is SAP-C02 being replaced?

Yes. AWS opens SAP-C03 registration on 27 October 2026, and SAP-C02 stays available until 17 November 2026. AWS will publish the SAP-C03 details when registration opens.

Do I need the Associate certification first?

No, it is not an official prerequisite. In practice, most successful candidates already master the Associate level.

Is the exam offered in French?

No. For SAP-C02, AWS offers English plus five Asian and Latin American languages, so we practise questions in English during the course.

Are three days enough?

For an experienced architect, yes, as long as you follow up with practice tests over the next few weeks. For less experienced profiles we suggest a short readiness check before enrolling, so the pace suits you.

Does it renew my Associate certification?

Yes. According to AWS, earning the Professional level recertifies Solutions Architect – Associate.
