The exam
The AIF-C01 exam has 65 questions, 15 of them unscored, to answer in 90 minutes. Besides multiple-choice and multiple-response items, it includes ordering and matching questions. You need a score of 700 out of 1000, with no per-domain minimum. You can take it at a Pearson VUE centre or online with a remote proctor, in languages including English, French and Arabic. AWS lists the fee at USD 100, and the certification is valid for three years.

Frequently asked questions (FAQ)
Do I need to be a data scientist to pass AIF-C01?
No. AWS describes the typical candidate as someone who uses AI rather than builds it. Model training, coding and data engineering are out of scope.
How is it different from Cloud Practitioner?
Cloud Practitioner covers the AWS Cloud as a whole, while AI Practitioner focuses on AI, generative AI and their responsible use. Both are foundational and independent of each other.
Is the exam available in French?
Yes, French (France) is among the languages AWS offers, as is Arabic.
Is one day enough to pass?
The day covers all five domains. Plan some targeted review and a practice test over the following week or two before you book your slot.
What comes after AI Practitioner?
Technical profiles can move on to Generative AI Developer – Professional, which calls for real hands-on experience building generative AI applications.
